Booking a personal photoshoot is exciting - whether you’re celebrating a milestone, refreshing your brand images, or treating yourself or a loved one to beautiful portraits. At Colraine Capture, my goal is to make your photoshoot experience relaxed, enjoyable and confidence-boosting from start to finish.
If you’ve never had a photoshoot before (or feel a little nervous!), here’s exactly what to expect, how to prepare, and what you’ll walk away with.

Why Choose Colraine Capture?

As a professional photographer specialising in equestrian photography and personal branding, I create natural, warm, storytelling imagery that feels authentic to you.
From helping you choose outfits to guiding your poses, helping you tack up the horses to sweeping the yard, I’m with you every step of the way.

What to Expect at Your Personal Photoshoot

1. A Pre-Shoot Consultation (Online or Phone Call)

Before the shoot, we’ll have a relaxed chat about:
-
The type of photos you love
-
Your vision and style
-
Whether your horse, pets or partner will join
-
Locations
-
Outfit ideas
-
What you want the final images to achieve
This is where I make sure your photoshoot feels tailored, personal and completely “you”.
2. Help Choosing Outfits & Styling

You don’t need a huge wardrobe - just pieces that feel comfortable and confident whilst being photographed.
I’ll guide you through colours, textures and layering that work beautifully on camera, especially for:
-
Equestrian portraits
-
Country lifestyle imagery
-
Personal branding and small business shoots
-
Soft, natural outdoor portraits
(See the What to Wear section below for more ideas.)
3. A Calm, Relaxed Shooting Environment

Most clients start the day saying, “I’m awkward in front of the camera!”, and by the end, they’re having fun and feeling confident.
I’ll guide you through:
-
Poses that flatter your shape
-
Natural movements
-
What to do with your hands
-
How to stand, sit, walk or interact with your horse
There's no pressure, just gentle direction so everything feels effortless.
4. Time to Settle In

The first 10–15 minutes are to get to know you and the location, and a few warm-up shots.
We take it slow, ease into the session, and get you and the horses feeling comfortable in a different environment.
5. Beautiful Location Choices

Whether we shoot:
-
On your yard
-
At home
-
On the beach
-
In woodland
-
At sunset in a field
-
Or another location in Cornwall or the surrounding counties
I’ll choose the best angles and natural light to create warm, timeless imagery.
6. A Photoshoot Tailored to You

Your session can be:
-
Editorial
-
Moody and atmospheric
-
Light and airy
-
Christmassy and cosy
-
Punchy and saturated
-
Lifestyle and candid
-
Elegant equestrian portraiture
-
Branding-focused
-
Or a mix of everything you love
No two shoots are the same.
7. Experience Working With Horses

If this is an equestrian photoshoot, you’re in safe hands.
I work with horses regularly and know how to:
-
Keep them calm
-Choose safe positions
-Find flattering angles for both horse and rider
-Work around their quirks
-Take breaks when needed
Happy horse = beautiful photos.
8. A Professionally Edited Gallery

After your shoot, I hand-select the best images and edit them in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Your final gallery will be delivered:
-
Via a private online link
-
With full-quality downloads
-
Options for prints and artwork
-
Easy sharing with friends and family
Turnaround is usually 3-5 days depending on season.

Coordinated horse accessories
-

FAQs: Personal Photoshoots with Colraine Capture
How long does a photoshoot last?
Most sessions last 1–2 hours, but branding shoots can take longer depending on outfit changes and locations.

Absolutely - the more the merrier! Your shoot can include pets, partners, friends or family at no extra charge.
What if I feel awkward in photos?
Nearly everyone says this and it’s my job to guide you so you look natural and confident. You won’t be left to “figure it out” alone!

Yes! I cover Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset and beyond. Travel costs may apply depending on distance.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We either:
